Add Microsoft Entra ID as an identity provider to an Aiven Runtime application

Let users access an Aiven Runtime application through the Microsoft Entra ID identity provider (IdP).

Required roles or permissions:role:project:admin, role:project:manager, or project:services:write

Step 1: Register an application in Microsoft Entra ID​

In the Microsoft Entra admin center:

  1. Register an application.
  2. In the Overview, copy the Application (client) ID.
  3. Get your app's configuration document URI.
  4. Create a client secret.
  5. Copy the secret's Value.

Step 2: Add Entra ID to a Runtime application​

Open the Aiven Console in a new tab:

  1. In the Aiven Console, go to your Aiven Runtime application and click Authentication.

  2. Click Add authentication method.

  3. Select OpenID Connect (OIDC) and click Next.

  4. Enter a name for the identity provider.

  5. In the Issuer/Provider URL, enter the configuration document URI.
  6. In the Client ID, enter the Application (client) ID you copied,
  7. In the Client Secret, enter the secret Value you copied.

  8. Copy the Redirect URL.

  9. Click Add.

Step 3: Add the redirect URL to your application​

In the Microsoft Entra admin center, add a redirect URI and paste the Redirect URL from the Aiven Console.
